ERB OBCE KECHNEC

Coat of Arms of Kechnec consists of the following components:

green shield; a silver (white) figure of a man wearing a hat, on black ground, the man ploughing with golden (yellow) plough with silver (white) ploughshare; the plough is towed by silver (white) ox with golden (yellow) horns, collar and hoofs, with three silver (white) ducks with golden (yellow) beaks and stripes around their necks, flying above the ox.

Shield: Late Gothic. The design is based on the municipal seal used in the first half of the 19th century. Typarium imprint from 1839 is stored in the National Archives of Hungary in Budapest, a part of the Altenburger’s co­llection of seals (Altenburger Pecsétgyüjteménye, V-5). The seal with circular inscription reading KENYHETZ HELYSÉGE PETSÉTYE 1839 (Seal of the Municipality of Kechnec) bears a picture of a masculine figure ploughing with a plough, on the ground, the plough being towed by one ox, with three wild ducks flying above and a circle located below.

Colouring of the design was chosen in accordance with the basic rules of colours and metals usage in heraldry. The author has chosen the Late Gothic shield for its austerity and its extensive use in urban and municipal heraldry. This proposal is only a design idea stemming from the analysis of the oldest known heraldic source (the above mentioned seal), which is one of the sources for the coat of arms creation. In artistic design, it is important to take into consideration, as much as possible, the shape and form of the original symbol (the above mentioned seal).

The proposed design will become a valid coat of arms of the municipality of Kechnec only after it is approved by the Local Municipal Assembly.
