A SUMMARY OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED
- Since 1990 the municipality of Kechnec has carried out many important repairs, reconstructions and constructions. It is a pleasure to write that due to their extensiveness we present only a summary in points.
- Gasification of outlying streets
- Construction of a water pipeline, water reservoir, sewerage system and wastewater treatment plant. See photo.
- Construction of a modern funeral home, adjacent parking lot and retaining wall in front of the cemetery. See photo.
- Construction of a fire station and business centre. See photo.
- The construction of a small hydroelectric power plant, which is unfortunately idle at this time due to the vandalism of some people. It is sad when we fail to appreciate the values created!
- Paving the bus stop. See photo.
- Complete reconstruction of the municipal office. A professionally equipped kitchen for 1,200 diners and a multifunctional congress hall with a capacity of 450 people, professional sound and lighting have been set up in its premises. - Construction of new access roads (Soós Garden, Perínska cesta, the road by the primary school and the road to the Sokolianský brook)
- Reconstruction of public lighting and public address system
- Reconstruction of the national road and complete construction of the local road up to the village of Seňa
- Construction of a new church building and reconstruction of the Roman Catholic church and parish building. See photo.
- Construction of a 40-apartment unit. There are 4 one-bedroom flats, 24 three-bedroom flats, 12 maisonettes and 9 garages in the apartment building. The building has a cellar, a separate boiler room with a water tank and each apartment has a separate metering of utilities.
- Construction of a new telephone distribution system with the possibility of introducing connections to each household and a new digital telephone exchange

- Construction of an industrial park – Kechnec Industrial Zone. The park has an area of 332 hectares and the land is immediately ready for sale. New infrastructure has been built to the boundaries of the park – gas, water, electricity, waste disposal, sewerage, telecommunication connections, access road, sewage treatment plant. Read more
- Construction of a social-health complex and completion of its first stage – the medical part. In the medical part there will be a diagnostic centre and an operating theatre and there will be general and paediatric doctor, gynaecologist and dentist. There will also be an inpatient section, which will have a capacity of 96 beds – 30 medical, 10 geriatric and 56 belonging to the nursing home. - Construction of a sports complex. A professional sports complex is at the disposal of the citizens as well as visitors to the village, where there are tennis courts, pearl baths, massages and a sauna. In the winter months, the municipality operates a professionally groomed ice-skating rink.
- Building a Community Centre. There is a restaurant, superior accommodation, office space, conference and social areas, sauna and relaxation centre, two bowling alleys with a bar and parking for 60 cars. Read more
- Building a wine cellar. The municipality rebuilt the cellar at the Community Centre. It was originally used as an ice store. Today you can sit in it with a glass of fine wine.
- Construction of an amphitheatre and village centre. The former park is now the pride of Kechnec. In addition to the pleasant greenery, you can admire the colourful fountain, water spouts and superior technical equipment. The project includes an amphitheatre with an auditorium. In the second phase we rebuilt the area around the Sokolianský brook from the Amphitheatre to the Sports Complex, including new bridges and the reconstruction of the parking lot at the Social and Health Complex.
- Establishment of the Kechnec Municipal Administration and Maintenance Centre in the Industrial Zone
- Construction of a football pitch and bleachers with roofing
- Construction of a children’s playground in the Soós garden
- Construction of a connecting bridge over the Hornád River between the municipality of Kechnec and the Hungarian municipality of Abaújvár
- Construction of a new Modular Primary School, grades 1-9
